Relocating to the UK

Hi All - aftersome advice / words of wisdom.

I am an expat in Australia, currently strongly considering relocating back to the UK (Tring, Herts) for family reasons. Our son, 6, has moderate ASD, diagnosed at 2, then re diagnosed at 5 prior to starting school out here this year. Currently he attends a "satellite" class with other 7 other Autistic kids (6-8 yr olds), this class is in a mainstream school, the goal is for the children to eventually migrate in to mainstream schooling. Prior to this he did two years "pre school" in a mainstream envioroment with the help of a "shadow" that we funded. He has also done intensive ABA since 2. He is verbal, but can be quite hard to understand sometimes, has no issues learning, reads like a 12yr old, major issue is social and frustration outbursts.

Im struggling to understand how things would work for him if we do go home. It looks like he would need a EHCP, which given he has two diagnosis I hope would be ok. But what does getting a EHCP actually mean? That he gets funding for a shadow / extra help in the local school?

If anyone can give me some pointers / general advise it would be most appreciatted.

Cheers
