choosing the right sen school for my daughter

My daughter has is four years old, she was diagnosed with asd about a year ago tho I knew she was when she was about 18 month old. She has been in mainstream nursery and now in reception. We have now been told that the school is unable to meet her needs even tho she is a very bright girl she has social and emotional difficulties and the added pressures of having very complex sensory issues. siss are referring to the esbt tho they have been very honest and have explained that what they probably would advice the schools already doing and that a mainstream school is unsuitable at present. Ive tried looking for special schols to tailor her needs and a school that specialises in asd/aspergers and sensory difficulties. but I have not had any luck so far. We live in the solihull area could anyone suggest or highly recommend any sen primary schools near our area that would be suited to her. Thanks

  • Hi, any help is much appreciated, She has got a specialist fondation teacher from the siss team that has been on the scene since she was two. but is finding it hard to find a suitable placement for her due to her not having any learning difficulties. She is very bright and could be above average on intelligence if she just could concentrate and if we could find the right teachers qualified to do so. Not knocking the school that shes presently at but they just not equiped to deal with her specific needs and because she can be aggressive at times she does get into alot of trouble at school.

Her speicalist did have a school in mind for her but there is no places and has long waiting list I suppose that is another herdle you have to overcome, once you think u'v found a school it then getting them a place. So difficult and so many decisions.

Thanx for the list of placements I'll check them out now.  xx
