Hi , Im mum to a 16 year old girl on the spectrum . She desperately needs a social group with young people her own age . i have looked on the nas site and found a few ideas but have found many are outside glasgow . I found teenscene that was available in east Dumbartonshire but unfortunately though my back fence is the boundry for east dumbartonshire I come under glasgow so im not sure my daughter could join . I would be very grateful for any sugestions for social groups anyone could give me thanks .

  • Hi Sam, Thanks so much for your reply , its been the only one so will just try again somebody will see it and be able to help eventually . My daughter attends college 2 days a week and school the rest . She does kind of socialise with the other students on her course ( all sen ) but she craves friends etc out of school time too , so I am really looking for social groups for her preferably with other children similar to her though mainstream groups would be considered . I will keep trawling through the nas site Im sure I will find something . Thanks again

    I cant offer much in way of suggestions just wanted to offer my support. I live in east ayrshire and my eldest son is 17, he has AS and Dyspraxia. I found it very difficult to get support in my area for him and have given up. Fourtunatly my son has left school and has started college. By studying something he is very interested in (media and film) he has met like minded people and his social skills are improving with people that have similar interests and are happy to chat to him.
