Book

Hi Everyone

i am new to this forum, it was suggested I join by the staff from the support department so I could let you know about my book which I have recently self published. My son is 30 years old and has autism and a severe learning disability. The book charts his life and effect that having a child with severe autism has on family life. I felt the need to write the book because I had not come across any other that tells of the heartbreaking dilemma families face when making the decision for their son or daughter to go into residential or supported living care environment. I experienced very little support at this very difficult time of transition.

When you want your son or daughter to become independent from you and live their own life, but they may be physically an adult but emotionally and mentally they are still a child. My aim is to give other parent carers in a similar position some hope that things can go well. Today, whilst my son will always require 24 hr care, he has a wonderful social life  and is generally very happy.

the book is called Yes, Please No and is published at present in Amazon kindle.
