Pain/injuries.. just wondering

Hi

My son (who's 5) came home from school today and I noticed that his wrist was red (at the top of his hand) when I ran my hand over it he flinched I aaked if it hurt and he said yes. When I examined it it looked swollen. He generally doesn't cry when he hurts himself...Has anyone else experienced this issue.. I know that people with ASD can have high pain thresholds? but its a bit tricky to know how bad it is. I'm going to check it in the morning and nip him to drs if still painful..

  • He may have low pain thresholds but there will be other evidence of low sensitivity and low sensory issues.

In school it is likely to be better not to show you've got hurt least you get made fun of, and maybe more so if on the spectrum, so he may just be acting tough to keep a low profile.

But you also need to find out if someone or several or more peers are bullying him or singling him out. School should record accidental injuries and be able to account for them. So this injury might be "covert action" that he cannot tell about.
