Help and advice needed, 11 year old aspie girl being violent during meltdowns

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. My 11 year old daughter is becoming increasingly violent towards me and her older sister during her meltdowns. She throws furniture around, hits and kicks us, is verbally abusive also.

She started comp this september just gone and she is now having anger management and councilling sessions at her new school. Her behaviour has definately become worse over the last couple of months and it's becoming more and more difficult to manage. Her language is also very foul at the moment and her sensory issues have become worse also.

Has anyone else had this problem with their pre teen girls or does anyone have any tips on how to get through this?

I know girls of this age often go through a horrible stage (hormones and all that)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

  • Thanks that's really helpful. I'd already guessed that some of it may be down to puberty and big changes, as she's just started comp. I'm pleased to say that school have been really understanding and helpful, they've arranged for her to have anger management and counselling at school.

I'm going to try the anxiety cards and mood board with her. I've discovered that she now refers to anxiety attacks as being 'pissed off'!!

    Thanks again
