No school for my 6 year old - where can I get advice?

We recently moved to Cheshire from South Yorkshire.  I started the ball rolling with the paperwork in April, thinking that it would be enough time to find a school.  How wrong was I?

After perstering I found out in June that the LA had asked the local NAS school for a place and a 3 week consultation was taking place.  Nearly 6 weeks later after more pestering I was told the school is full.

The only other "special" school in the LA was also full.

The next nearest specialist Autistic primary school claimed that they couldn't help her - I had to wait until after the summer holidays to find that out.  And if a specialist school can't help her then this does not fill me with hope any school can.

Anyway, my daughters case went back to the mysterious "panel" and they suggested another school, 20 odd miles away, which in normal non rush hour traffic takes around an hour.

The school is lovely, but the travelling concerns me - and it was also raised as an issue by the head teacher and governors.

All the other special schools are out of the LA and at least an hours travelling.  We really are stuck.  We can move closer to any of the schools, but need to sell our house first.

So, does anyone know who I can turn to for advice and help or even suggest what I do next.  My daughter is not in any school at this point, which if she was NT, I'd be in big trouble for.

Thanks.
