I heard today that my best friend and her family are moving from Scotland to England in 2-3 months time. I can imagine the next few months are going to be busy, so I'm looking to help them as much as I can.
My best friend has a four year old autistic child who goes to a special pre-school in Scotland (I don't think they start school until they are 5 in Scotland).
Please can someone offer some guidance on how my friend should go about finding a school for her daughter? I'm guessing they can't do this until they've got somewhere to live in order to know which local authority they will be living in. But as much info to have at the ready would be much appreciated.
I don't know if she has an EHC - do they exist in Scotland? If they don't, will she need to have an assessment, and what happens in the meantime?
