Helping Connor: My journey

Hi everyone,

My son was diagnosed with Autism in August.  It has been such a battle to find him the help he needed.  Everyday can be a huge challenge.  I am looking for other parents that need support like we do.  It's nice to have a connection with someone who knows what you go through on a daily basis.  He is 5, and just started kindergarten.  I started a blog in honor of my son.  It's a way to express what we have been going through.  I would love to start some type of support group where we can chat back and forth, vent, cry, and just let eachother know it will be ok!

    Just to let you know that our policy on personal contact that we require for safeguarding reasons means that a blog like yours, great as it is, probably contains too much personal information for us to keep the link up here. 

    However if you'd like to be involved in the discussions on the forum and share your feelings then we'd love it if you did that through the Community here. This service is here to help people share exactly what you seem to be looking for. 

    I think, however, that looking for people to set up a support group with, if you were interested in something more formal, would probably be a little more challenging given you live in the US and this is a UK website. I'm sure there's a lot you can learn here and share but there are some really unique differences in how support is funded and provided. 

    In addition to sharing your experiences you may want to look at other US websites and not for profits to see what you could get involved in there as well.
