Devices to help an autistic child learn

Hello

ive just signed up and hoping someone can help me.

My 5 year old nephew has just been diagnosed with autism and ADHD. He has started school but is unable to count or concentrate. His speech is years behind.

He he is now being statemented so hopefully will get the help he needs

however I was wondering if I was to buy him a tablet/iPad if there are any good apps which can help him learn.  Alternatively are there any other games which could help

thank you x

  • Hi,

My daughter is 5 and has recently being diagnosed. She too has limited speech and concentration problems. She LOVES her iPad and has a couple of really great apps Maths age 3-5 (covers, matching, sorting, colours, forming numbers etc) and Tricky words with geraldine the giraffe (phonics videos) think she just loves the puppet, but has really helped with her learning of letters and words. There are loads of Autism friendly apps also but ive not found any really good ones yet.  The Apps available are endless but I suppose its finding the ones your nephew enjoys. CBeebies is a good free one too.

    Good Luck.
