selective mutism

Hi does anyone else have an aspergers child that also has selective mutism? Just wondering how others cope with this. If he is having a good day he will nod but if on a bad day. He seems to only trust me mainly and I just worry that if anything happened to me , how he would get by in the world, if he doesn't speak.

Hi, thank you for sharing your story, I have a 19 year old son who has SM for many years now. May I ask how you are getting on with SM ?

Have you tried the "Search the Community" facility (left hand side of this page)? Just putting mutism in gives a lot of previous posts about selective mutism.
PS Contributing to old threads can give you more responses because the people involved in the old thread will get emails to tell them about new posts.
