21 year old daughter diagnosed with autism

Hi,

First time on the forum.  I have a 21 year old daughter who has just been diagnosed with autism.  She has had various labels over the years.  Struggled at school and seen by various Educational Psychologists.  Diagnosed with non-specific learning difficulties, central processing disorder when she was younger.  I have always known something was wrong from the time she was a toddler.  It's been a long road to reach this point and the journey has taken many different paths.  I am not sure how much detail to go into but I just wanted to introduce myself and reach out to see if there are other parents out there with older children with autism.

My anxiety now is her leading her own life and trying to protect her.  She is vulnerable and has met a boy who has learning issues too.  I like the boy but unfortunately he has been asked to leave his family home.  His mother couldn't cope anymore.  They are now living in temporary accommodation as he is technically homeless.  My daughter isn't and will always have a home with me but she is obsessed with this boy and won't leave him.  That's probably enough information for now - hopefully I can make contact with parents who can tell me their experiences. Thanks for reading this.
