Help

Good Evening

My little boy has bronical asthma diagnosed last year. I took him to the GP as he wasnt well. While we were with the GP my little one was screaming not letting me talk, he was gritting his teeth with aggression and physically trying to rip my face off and pull my hair and ears from my head. As you can imagine the GP was more concerned for this behaviour as am I. He referred him to CAMHS who have rejected his referral and said he is 'probably' just naughty with his age.

My GP has completely diasagreed and told me he believes my son is on the Autistic Spectrum. I have to keep a diary of food and drinks he has and also tecord his behaviour for a few weeks and also get his outbursts on film if possible for evidence. He advised me also to resear h the dofferent conditions on the spectrum to highlight any area that my son could come under.

I feel overwelmed by all of this and now i have been researching the spectrum my son appears to be getting alot more aggressive to me and i am noticing alot more strange things hes doing and saying. I have noticed he shows alot of signs under PDA on the spectrum but I am very new to this and dont know what im dealing with.

Any help or advice woul be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi

Thanks for your reply its much appreciated. I have had a worlwind week, ive researched soo much and registered with my local support center. I am just soo confused with my own little boy now because i feel like all of his behaviour and ways could now have a hidden meaning. Dont get me wrong if it turns out he is on te spectrum then it would explain alot but at this moment in time i am sat questioning every little thing he does.

I also am trying to change my parenting styles with him but this is exhausting trying to find a way that he is happy with and what works, especially not knowing whats wrong with him.

I have done a questionnaire from the PDA society website and my outcome is that my 3 and 1/2 year old scores 66. The questionnaire is for children from 5-adult so im not sure if i should read too much into this but just for me to have an idea he seems to score extremely high.

Any feed back is much appreciated thanks
