7 year old - perminant exclusion

My 7 year old Autistic son has this week been perminantly excluded from his mainstream school.

While his exclusion is probabily justified and he probabily did try and harm his TA.
I am concerned that there maybe discrimination issues at the school relating to my son and other special needs children there.
I am also concerned that my sons funding (via statement) may not have been used correctly to help my son.

What I need to find are discrimination laws relating to the disabled and some information about how the statemented funding should be used.

Any help and advice would be most appreciated.

    We had the same problem with my son who is 7 years old now. He is behind at school by 2 years. We asked for help off everyone concerned doctors,school nurse, educational authority, IDS you name it. My son hates noises and refused to wear the uniform which annoyed the school from the word go.

    He settled with one helper and ended up changing three times, Which did not help my son at all. He has major sleeping problems and it was a matter of time before either we would of been taken to court due to his attendance etc.

    Everything we said to the school was met with a NO !

    The statement money was used to put a fence around the school, which was not needed as my son never left the helpers side. We had a toilet paid for in the school out of my sons money too (not needed).

    Last year after long arguments and banging our heads against a brick wall, We took our son out of main stream school. I now teach him at home. I know he would benefit from having friends at school but this was our last resort.

    My son is alot happier by far but we tried everyone and I mean everyone even the DHSS. I wrote letter after letter complaining about the way we were treated and got no where.

    Even now we have been left to our own devices, we see no one only from the education that comes every 6 months. (to see if we do school work)

    The statement has been stopped, We have to pay for everything which is annoying as the money could of been spent on books etc, Instead of fences. We got no where.

    I do hope that you have better help in your area, Warwickshire is absolute rubbish for any help.

    The only people I can think of is The parent partnership in your area. They are very well up on these issues.

    Write and complain to your County Council education department, That might do some good !
