Not sure what to do next......

Hi there

My 9yo son has just been diagnosed with Aspergers and now we think my partner has it too.  He also agrees with me and I've spoken to my gp about my partner, who just said she wasn't sure how useful an adult diagnosis would be.

The issue is I don't know where to turn for support.  My partner is unable to fully understand it (obviously) and family have gone into denial.  So I've gone from suspecting Aspergers, to having a confirmed diagnosis for my son with the addition of a possible aspie husband.

We have two other children as well, and I'm finding it really difficult to cope with some of the behaviour from my son, such as the anger and I'm worried that I'm so busy with my eldest that I'm neglecting the other two.

i feel like I'm facing all of this on my own.  we only have one car, both of us have to work to make ends meet and I just can't do the best for my aspie son in terms of helping his social anxiety.  I'm either working, or stuck in the house.

sorry to moan, but CAMHS have just told us to google it!

It depends on the problems that it is causing your husband. If he is coping and not being medicated for stress/anxiety/depression and if he is managing work without too many issues then it isn't absolutely necessary to get a diagnosis.

Have you been made aware of the training courses for parents of autistic spectrum children?
