2 yr old, in the process of diagnosis

Hey folks,

My son turns 3 in january and we are just in the process of diagnosis - but from reading through the NAS pack (very helpful) aid to diagnosis - its like a lightbulb has clicked on about my sons behaviour.

He was always a quiet child - unusually good, placid and calm - but very rapidly went from being small (he was 1 month premature) to being a on the top end of the scale for weight and height (hes still big for his age) He was slow to crawl (15 months) and slow to walk (17 1/2 months) and is still very behind in his speech. Hes very indifferent to other children. He drools a lot still - altho seems quite bright in understanding things. He very rarely makes eye contact, and doesn't point to things much either.

He spends a lot of the day jumping up and down, and repetetively banging things. He doesn't like eating things that touch other foods (so no beans or the sauce runs and touches etc) and loves very strong flavours - he will eat a whole packet of extra strong mints one after the other, and loves spicy foods. He drinks a huge amount every day.

His play is very regimented and follows a set pattern of what happens. He loves things to be in his order - which to an outsider looks like just mess - but he is very aware if something is moved within his space.

He is showing no signs of potty training - he will sit on the loo for ages and then come off and look surprised when he wees on the floor - its like he has no clue that the wee is his or where it comes from. Hes recently started playing in a messy nappy if he can get in to it - just smearing it over himself and his surroundings. He doesn't seem disturbed by the smell.

I guess I'm just looking to get this down and see it in writing, and to see if this sounds familiar to anyone. Any hints on dealing with any of it would be amazing.

Thanks for reading!
