challenging behavior school discipline ?

Hi this is my first post on the forum . My son aged 6 (year2) is in mainstream school with a full statement & full-time 1-1 support (which I fought tooth & nail to get for him). He is in a class of approx 30 pupils mixed class year 1 & 2 . He has had issues with his behavior before but not recently until the last week or so . He has been hitting or pushing other pupils different ones each time. 5 seperate incidents over approx 6 school days. I have been trying to find out the ins & outs of each incident from the senco & teacher . The school have disciplined my son on each occasion this has happened . Each time , he has either missed the whole of his morning playtime . Or missed 5 mins at the end of lunch time . He understands enough to know the behavior is wrong . He always apologies after & becomes upset but the behavior is still continuing . I have wondered if he may find playtime too stressful & he has learned by this behavior that he misses playtime or is taken in . Although I have asked him & he says he likes playtime .

I have spoken to his senco to explain that I beleive the missing playtime as a discipline measure is obviously not working .They have told me that they do not follow him around at playtime but observe him at a distance (so I beleive he is not being supervised as much as is required ) The behavior seems to be worse at lining up time first thing in the morning all the children are in the playground mixed ages & it is very noisy & busy .

I wondered if anyone has had similar experiences . I also want to approach the school in a non confrontational way about the supervision given at breaktimes..

Thankyou !
