My 12 yr old D was diagnosed this summer. I had a course to attend about autism, and think it could be a helpful thing for her. She knows some and has read some fiction book s etc, but she is quite academic and I think it could be good to do a formal course together. So she can feel she has had a thorough introduction. Also as NT the course helps me understand autistic ppl. Maybe the course also helps the other way around.
Am looking at the Open University's Open Learn course : "understanding autism"
Has anyone done this and comment on whether there is child inappropriate content? Or explain any content that is borderline?
We would be doing it together, so i think I can mediate some. But if there are sections that might be hard, it's easier tto be upfront about that in the beginning, especially we decide to skip it.
