Research background
The National Autistic Society, alongside other autism charities, is developing a campaign aimed at tackling growing negative and inaccurate news stories, conversations and attitudes towards autism and autistic people. The campaign is not aimed at autistic people – but those who lack understanding of autism and those who have negative or conflicted views. We have already recruited a group of autistic people. We are now keen to hear from carers to help inform our campaign.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for carers of autistic people with high support needs, to attend an hour-long online discussion.
To be considered, you need to meet the following criteria:
- at least 18 years old
- living in the UK
- family/professional carer to an autistic person with high support needs.
What does taking part involve?
The discussion will be hosted by representatives of the charity and the agency we are working with on this campaign. There may be a follow-up discussion or further questions by email (for which you would also be paid at the same rate). The topic of conversation will be your own experiences of misinformation and negative attitudes towards autism, and your thoughts on some creative routes. (No preparation is required.)
The online group discussions will be in the first week of November, and will take place at 6.30-7.30pm (date to be confirmed).
Reimbursement
You would be paid £27.50.
We are looking to recruit a diverse group, representing different ages, genders, geographical locations and ethnicities.
This sign-up form will take around 5 minutes to complete and will give you the opportunity to be considered to join a paid discussion: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/LJ7HM5/
Closing date: 9am next Monday 12 October
