First Tier Tribunals - Appealing setting only on EHCP - anyone else gone through this?

Hi there

Recently received final EHCP for my young son which has been approved for a specialist provision, but because it was only finalised during the school holidays and consultations did not get received from schools until 2 weeks into the new term, the placements for the specialist school I wanted is already full for year ahead.  So, he is having to stay at the current mainstream school which isn't ideal.  This had to go on EHCP which I want to appeal.

Has anybody else gone to a Tribunal before to appeal the school setting (name of school) on the EHCP? I have never been through this before.  It sounds like I don't need to go to mediation as less than 1% get changed this way.  It might as well go to the tribunal immediatey.

Would love to know peoples experiences - of the tribunal itself.  I have to put a summary together of why I am appealing the school currently on the final.

Im stressing abit about all of this would really like some feedback.

Thanks

  • Has anybody at all gone through this on here? Even if you can message me if you don't want to post.

I've been told there at tribunals are 2 options 1) hearing panel online and you can invite witness's and 2) paper registration.  Hearing option won't be until 2028! Which is insane.  Paper reg next year.

Has anyone gone through paper registration rather than online hearing?I'm only appealing on the school setting rather than EHCP content. So mine is relatively straightforward . Trying to get lawyer to draw up summary info to provide.

I really could do with someone responding I'm so stressed. Anybody?
