17yo autistic gamer - looking to make friends (brother posting on behalf)

Hello,

I’m looking for advice/ connections.

My brother is 17 years old and autistic. He currently studies at college and is doing well however, he has recently expressed to our parents that he is beginning to feel the loneliness as he has no friends or social groups at college.

My brother is a massive gamer. He loves Roblox, Mario, Friday Night Funkin’ and loads more. He collects games consoles modern and old, along with masses of games. He also has a YouTube channel where he likes to edit and animate some character videos.

i would love to connect with parents/ family members of autistic young adults (or the young adults themselves) who may be in similar situations.

it would be great to share any resources/ communities that may be able to help my brother meet like minded people and be happy. He would make an amazing friend, just like he’s an amazing brother.

Your brother absolutely deserves to feel part of something, it is not to be understated the impact of loneliness - I can certainly relate in ways, regarding what you have said, college was certainly an interesting time for myself.

While I am sure that our community will have some fantastic feedback, I wonder if any of the following NAS approved resources may be useful -

The Mix - An online community for young people.

Autism Youth Support | Online Youth Network - An online community for Autistic young people.

Online groups and communities for neurodivergent young people | MindMate - A selection of communities appropriate for ND young people.

Autism Services Directory - our directory lists resources located around the UK, such as social groups.
