Reposting my message in here to see if anyone is in a similar situation. Regarding my autistic brother.

Hi there,

I am not sure if I am in the right place to be posting this but I am at a bit of a loss.

I am trying to source guidance or be pointed in the right direction to help support and offer help for my severely autistic brother.

After researching online I have been unable to find any specialist psychiatrist or any where to go. I feel that the only option is to go to the GP which we have been going through for years.

If this message is inappropriate and not made for this board then I apologise but I feel very deflated and at a dead end not knowing where to turn. I want to provide my parents with some sort of positive path or somewhere to start.

I wonder if anyone may be in a similar position or know someone who has managed to get behavioural and sleep support.

I appreciate anyone taking the time to read this.

Thank you.

Also, my post was previously reported as offensive and inappropriate so I apologise if any of my language is not correct or offends anyone. This is not my intention in any way I am simply looking to find someone who might be going through a similar thing as a family.

  • I think the gp is probably your best bet, to be honest. If he hasn’t had a diagnosis yet, ask for the right to choose and choose your provider. I chose Clinical Partners; otherwise, the NHS will take a very long time. There is also the National Sleep Helpline if sleep is an issue, as I know it is for me.
