Hi there,
My son is almost 6 and was diagnosed this summer. I haven't told him yet because I wanted to give myself a breather to process it myself (not that it came as a surprise). I was wondering if anyone has any books or videos or metaphors they have used to explain what autism is so I can try to explain it to him? He's receptive to books/videos/images/stories so I think any medium like this would help. He's coping pretty well atm, but obviously finds some things challenging. I want to pitch it right and ensure that I don't act as though this is a wholly positive thing (the superpower idea) but equally I don't want to make him feel that there is something 'wrong' with him either, just that his brain is different.
Any advice or ideas gratefully received,
Thanks!
