School Uniform

I heard on the news today about limiting the number of branded school items. One parent said she thought school Uniform should be more informal. When my son moved from a more comfortable primary school uniform to Secondary he struggled with wearing a blazer. As well as it being stiff, there was the issue of being worse if he needed to wear a waterproof coat over it. Eventually we managed to get some agreement to wear a jumper. Due to sensitivities we also often spent the summer break trying to find trousers that were comfortable. When I went to school, blazers were optional. The only branded item was the school tie.

I wondered what others thought on the subject of uniform, especially for those who already struggle with school.

  • I'm a no or minimal uniform person, I know some people think that a uniform makes everyone the same and dosen't show wealth and stuff, but I think kids always know, they know where each other live, what their parents do for a living, what cars parents drive and where they go on holiday.

I think a simple trousers/skirt, with a sweathshirt and airtex top are fine, just pick colours for different schools.
