Hi,
My daughter is five years old and she is globally delayed and her behaviour is of a 3 year old and She is also autistic too.
Since moving up into year two this september we have had many pulling aside moments from the TA and teacher of her class which we feel should be meeting discussions not at hometime in front of all other parents.
Our daughter has started biting staff specially the TA who works with so many in the classroom and she has also started saying no more not doing as she is asked and having meltdowns more. When pulled a side by the teacher she said katelynn was having tantrums so her dad said dont u mean meltdowns because of her global delay being upto two years behind her peers she is bound to have meltdowns and biting because of lack of communication. The teacher said oh who is delayed :O he said if u look its in her file notes and the teacher insists there not in the notes as she had a look previous days before as she is concerned about katelynns behaviour and says theres nothing in there about her gdd and her autism. The TA pulled us aside yet again today our daughters bitten her because she couldnt do her work and tormented other children and also said no to doing stuff again all day and she even asked is anything wrong at home i said everything is the same me and dad are very happy and we dont understand why her behaivour at home is good but not in school. Oh the stress they gave her last few reading books with words in that she read perfect to me each one then knock her back last week a book with no words in the very early books u tell the story lookin at pictures so we are not impressed so far not a good start to year two. Any ideas what we should do?? because there clearly not meeting her needs moaning all the time and theres a communication issue between the TA and our daughter if she is biting her because of memory overload having meltdowns ???? Its just upsetting when there telling us about her in front of her too and we have to get our daughter to say sorry all the time to the TA its gonna give her a complex soon if this keeps up.
Thanks katie xx
