Autism Assesment

My 11 year old has just had his Autism Assesment remotely, he walked out as the assessor was pushing for him to be face to face which he was uncomfortable with, he came back and continued the assesment, not with complete enthusiasm or compliance however he did comolete two tasks. He became upset and walked out when asked about friends and the assesor ended the assesment. She said that she "had lots of information" can anyone interpret this? I have my parental appointment next week, will I be given the result then? The not knowing is driving me crazy!

Thanks in advance

  • Hello there.  I am sorry to hear that the assessment experience was stressful for your child.  It can definitely be an overwhelming time.  Some other community members may have their own anecdotes and advice to share with you.

In the meantime, you may like to have a look at our Assessment and Diagnosis page which includes information on what the assessors are looking at and how the information they gather will be assessed, and how you may receive the results/report following the assessment.

I hope you find this helpful, and good luck with your own parental appointment.
