Autism Assessment

Hello,

My son had his face to face ASD last week, They contracted me yesterday stating they need further information and are doing a school visit as they feel what i have said  and what they witnessed at the assessment did not match feedback they received from school. Just wondered if anyone else has been through this and what their experience was. The lady i spoke to said they can see multiple traits of autism in him so why do they need the school visit?

TIA for any advice

  • I would like to reassure you about this.It i s really really common to have a school visit. It is often just part of their protocol to get a full assessment.

The thing about school reports is that they often don't take into account if your son is masking at school. If you son is masking then the school may not pick up the signs of autism. Whereas a school visit, the assessors are able to see for themselves whether they think he is masking.

I hope that you get your assessment report through soon and can action an EHCP and support for your son soon.
