Participants wanted: Share Your Experiences of Discipline, Behaviour and Policing in Schools

Note: This account only posts external research that has been approved by the NAS research team.
-
This research invites people to share experiences of discipline, behaviour management, school safety, and policing in schools in England. It explores how practices such as monitoring, punishment, exclusion, and police involvement affect young people and families. The study is particularly interested in experiences involving neurodivergent children and young people, including autistic students. Contributions can be written, audio, or creative, and can be shared anonymously via WhatsApp, email, or this submission form: tinyurl.com/school-police-research
-
Who the researcher is
The research is led by Dr Remi Joseph-Salisbury, Reader in Sociology at the University of Manchester.
-
What type of participants are being sought
Testimonies are welcome from autistic people, parents and carers, and others with experience of schools (including teachers, school staff, or advocates). You do not need to have experienced police presence directly; experiences of discipline, behaviour systems, or school control more broadly are also relevant.
-
Reimbursement details
Sharing a testimony is voluntary and unpaid. A small number of participants may be invited to take part in a follow-up interview, for which a £40 gift voucher will be provided.
