About the researcher
Just found the resume of an AI researcher (Joseph Redmon), I thought people here may like the idea, or be inspired by it (not sure if it will help you get jobs though!)
He created an important neural network years ago, and then left the field due to ethical concerns (his model was used by drones in war fields). Sadly, there are more than 10 extended versions of his work today, and it is not hard to imagine that they are also used for unethical purposes.
Now he seems to be back in AI (there is a gap in his scholar page) for helping with environment.
