School Attendance

Good Morning,

1st time on here, just after some advice. My 16 year old son has ASD, APD, ODD and Dyslexia. Since starting high school he has developed school avoidance. He has been told that he can't play football because of his low attendance. I have stated that I felt that this was an unreasonable punishment and was against the equality act. School have said it is nothing to do with his ASD, but his attendance. His attendance is due to his ASD, so is this against the equality act?

  • Does he want to play football?

I was a school avoider and just bunked off for months at at time, of course there was no diagnosis in the 1970's, but I've since gone on to do lots of things including getting a degree as a mature student. So try not to worry to much about him missing education, I think ND, puberty and education make for an overwhelming mix.

I'd complain, but I've got to say that this just sounds like the usual square bashing approach of far to many schools,
