I contacted Social Care Direct after being told that l should have a Social Worker for my 18yr old Autistic son, SCD have just rang me - app Autism is not on their criteria and l should contact the Autism Society for all the help l need !!

    I have put below the link to the Community Care support line who may be able to help you.

    They will be able to help you with the support that your social services department should be providing.  There is a new Parliamentary Act that details the support that should be provided to people with ASD and their families.  When I was having problems with our social services department when they said pretty much what your department has said, I reminded them in a letter about the new Autism Act and surprise, surprise suddenly they remembered that there was support that they could offer even if it was support provided through Social Services but by the NAS.  My son is the same age as your son and once he reached 18 the CAMHS just left him to fend for himself.
