Help needed in Abingdon / Didcot

Hi

Can anyone recommend any help in the Abingdon or Didcot area, we have a nine year old son currently (struggling) at mainstream school and we could do with other parents in the area to speak to, and groups perhaps to join?

Running out of ideas quickly as to what to do next, each week is another drama at school ...

Thanks!!

Kathryn

  • Hi

Try e-mailing becky@autismafs.org - you may need to complete an online referal form but she will be really speedy in either getting in touch or putting you in touch with the right people. I'm based between Abingdon and Didcot and she covers both areas.

    Hope this helps

  • Hi KathS,

A possibility to suggest to the school - if they would be receptive to this of course - is to get in touch with the NAS' education support service (more information here: www.autism.org.uk/.../education-support-service.aspx). The service provides specialised support to professionals working with children with autism aged 3-19, in a range of educational settings.

    Take care,

  • Hi KathS,

I'm sorry to hear that your son is struggling at school. Unfortunately it looks like you don't have NAS branches or services nearby. Have you tried contacting Autism Oxford (www.autismoxford.org.uk)? Do bear in mind that because they aren't part of NAS we can't vouch for the quality of the support or advice they might provide. If you do contact them, do come back and let us know how you get on.

I hope you find the support you are looking for soon.
