Mother in law thinks only children without siblings need Social Stories

My Son is an only child and he has a Social Stories book.  My Mothet in law who visited on Saturday picked the book up and said children with siblings probably don’t need these as they can learn from their brothers and sisters. I did say for some  children not everything comes naturally siblings or no siblings Who was right? 

  • Does anyone have to be right? If a child enjoys the stories then surely that's the most important thing?

  • Social Stories offer very focused explanations about specific social situations.

    Autistic children with siblings can also benefit greatly from Social Stories, including - just for example - helping them to better understand, communicate with, and avoid conflicts with their (autistic or non-autistic) siblings.

    Equally, Social Stories can be helpful for teaching non-autistic children about the needs of their autistic sibling(s), including how to support and get along with them.
