Is there anyone out there in this community who has experience of dealing with Trans young adults with Autism and gender dysphoria.
I am the parent of an 18 year old Trans Boy. He received his autism diagnosis in December 2024 but has struggled with Gender Dysphoria for a few years now. Born female He can not stand to look at his chest (which is a C/D cup) and becomes very upset and has huge breakdowns regarding this. (He uses binders to reduce the appearance). He is currently taking the birth control injection every 3 months as this stops menstruation which is another area of difficulty for him to deal with. Our GP has accepted and referred him for initial discussions on the process of gender reassignment however we have been advised the waiting list can be 5-6 years before the initial assessment.
Is there anyone out there who has navigated this process or is going though a similar situation who can share experience that I could network with both for support for my son and myself. His dad is in the picture and we all live in the family home but is finding this really difficult to comprehend although is accepting of the situation.
