Are schools just for A S D. right for all Autistc children?

My son is nearly nine, be has Autism but he attends a special.school.for a variety of special needs including Autism. The school.SENCO feels his needs can be met in a similar setting in high school?  Do.all.children with Autism need a school specifically for Autism?

  • No they don't but a lot of autistic kids find mainstream confusing/overwhelming. Having said that I'm sure there are also autistic kids that thrive in mainstream. It is important to really consider his needs and how another school could meet his needs. 

    Just so I'm clear on what you're asking is his current school primary only and the SENCO is suggesting an SEN high school would benefit him?
