hi my son is 7 (mentally 2), and a climber/escapologist. Two days ago he figured out he can climb the 6 foot garden gate, and it is only a matter of time before he will get over the fence if left unsupervised (i am a recently single mum with two children, i cant be with him all the time). Short of erecting an alarm system around the perimeter of the garden, which i would imagine would cost a fortune and wouldn't stop the problem, just warn me, does anyone have any suggestions, please? Thank you

We have an escapologist too! Very stressful and like you say you can't be with them all the time.
We were put in touch with Occupational Therapy by our paediatrician. They have been brilliant, we are getting door sensors fitted to alert us when Houdini goes wandering (he likes to go for early morning adventures - not great when he is only 4yrs old!)
Know its not the same situation but the lady we talked too said they have all sorts of sensors and things available.
The other thing was we are not paying anything - there is a small budget available for 'minor works'. Not sure what there is available in your area (we are in stockton-on-tees) but there may be something.
