My name is Kim Buckless and I am currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Staffordshire, focused on enhancing nutrition education in mainstream schools for autistic children. This research holds deep personal significance for me, as a parent of an autistic child.
Together with Caudwell Children, I’m developing teacher resources that offer accurate, balanced, and inclusive nutrition education, tailored to the needs of autistic students. To make these resources truly impactful, I am conducting a study to gather insights from parents and caregivers about their children's experiences with healthy eating messages in mainstream schools. Following this, I aim to co-create these resources with parents, caregivers, and their children to better support teachers in delivering nutrition education in mainstream schools.
I am currently recruiting parents and caregivers to share their perspectives on the healthy eating lessons and information provided to their autistic children in mainstream schools. I can provide a £10 Amazon voucher for everyone who participates in a focus group or interview.
