Double buggy needed for violent meltdowns

hi everyone firstly I hope I have posted this in the right place this is my first time! I really need some advice from parents in the same situation as me right now. I need a double buggy for a newborn due in August and for my son with ASD who is nearly 3. My son has to go in a buggy everywhere as he is a danger to be allowed to walk. The main problem is that he has violent meltdowns at unpredictable times and I am worried that he could harm the baby sat next to him. Does anyone have experience of this and how did you get round it? Can someone advise a double buggy to use in this situation. Your help is appreciated thank you!

  • Have you considered putting the baby in a baby carrier thing that you wear where baby is  positioned on your chest and strapped in leaving your hands free to either  push a stroller or have  your older child in reins.

If you go for a buggy it would be worthwhile getting a protective water proof cover for the baby section which will prevent the older child from hitting baby or taking things off baby.  I would also remove the child's shoes so that if he tries to kick it will not cause as much damage.

Rewarding the child for good behaviour such as being kind to baby may help.
