Creating a plan for the holiday

Hi everyone,

As we all know the summer hols have started, and my son has had some real adjustment issues to not going to school.

He's been very angry, agressive and always wanting food or to go out the garden. I think all this comes from his lack of structure over the holidays.

We've got things planned and he does have a couple of days in a playscheme, but I looking for a 'summer' holiday plan we can create for him that not only gives him things to do and allows my wife and daughter to have time to relax and enjoy themselves.

We can't give him the same structure and timeline that he has at school, does anyone have ideas for what we can do to create a less-structured holiday routine?

Thanks

Stephen

  • Hi , we live in scotland too ..and I was very nervous of a full 7 weeks without structure ..but i discovered that our local sports centre did a playcheme for pre school and school age children for two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon .. this has been a god send my asd son and his 2 brothers have attended every day and some days have even returned to the sports centre at night to try out new sports ..a great energy burner :) ..he has stuck to this structure every day ..he has coped reasonably well and the staff have been fantastic with him ..im sure that other areas must do the same as its run by the local authority x
