Dla to pip

My child is currently on DLA but will be 16 soon so will have to change to pip. 3 main concerns

1. Will probably not be able to claim it due to new rules! Not fair because Autism doesn't go away!

2. If lucky enough to be able to claim it, no good with money so how do I look after the money like Dla?

3. If not able to claim,  his only interests are themeparks and without pip, we won't be able to avoid queues and, therefore,  won't be able to go again because meltdowns occur if queue for too long, yet themeparks are all they enjoy, nothing else!

Can anyone provide any information please?

  • The important thing to note is that the proposed changes to PIP will not come into force until NEXT year, so providing your child's claim is submitted before then - it would be under the current rules - and if granted, would be honoured for the length of the award.

There's also nothing to say they wont tinker with these 'reforms' again before it comes to Parliament as there's growing unease about them.
