Words of encouragement

Hi everyone. I am recently diagnosed autistic and only just grappling with that, following my recent posts. My mum is seriously ill (can't give specific details on this, sorry) and I'm trying to support her the best ways I can. It is taking a toll emotionally on me as I don't like to see her ill.

I am really attentive towards her as much as I can, and checking in on her regularly to make sure she's doing ok.

It is really hurting me inside and I'm doing the best I possibly can right now. It breaks me inside and I'm close to tears.

Any words of encouragement or uplifting are most welcome to cheer me up. Thank you. BlushThumbsup

  • Hi Anonymous235.

Thank you for reaching out to the community and I am sorry to hear about your current difficulties. It is really moving and inspiring to read about your tender care, attention and support you show your mother everyday, and I am sure she truly appreciates everything you do for her. You truly are an amazing and caring person Slight smile

It may sound difficult, and even counterintuitive in the moment but I seriously think you should try and take breaks to satisfy your own needs, rest and do anything you enjoy (e.g., reading, daydreaming, journalling, listening to music, spending time with nature etc.).

Self-care will not only help you feel calmer and more energised, it will also allow your mum to reflect on her own thoughts and emotions in a calmer environment (less burdened by distracting chatter and distressing emotions). Enjoying mutual alone time could help both you and your mum boost your overall wellbeing, broaden your perspective on life, and even strengthen the already amazing relationship you share Slight smile

Hey, maybe in your next visit with her, you might be showing her a cool new skill you learnt during your break, and she might be sharing you a witty new joke she thought of Slight smile

I wish you and your mother all the best Slight smile

    Kind regards,

    Good_Vibes365.
