My 8 year old was recently diagnosed with autism, and he's quite high functioning, it seems anyway. He's in mainstream school too. After diagnosis, about 4 weeks ago, I spoke to the senco at school, and I'm still waiting on CAMHS to send me his report and diagnosis (was, told I should have it soon). What measures should the school be taking or putting in place? I was told they will contact stars, but I'm assuming they've either got the ball rolling, or will do once they receive his diagnosis and report. What should I expect from stars and should my son be getting any additional funding or support? Someone I know said her son got funding after she went to the GP, but I'm not sure what the gp would do? Should I leave it in the schools hands, and assume they would give any extra support from their funds /budget? I'm just wondering what I should be doing, or what I should expect. Thanks.
