Playing on stairs

My Son who’s 8 is either sliding down the stairs with a duvet on blanket over his head or trying to climb on my back or shoulders on the stairs. Any idea why this could be and what might help please?

  • I did the same when I was young - the danger was a big part of the fun.

Plus I grew up in the 70's so getting hurt playing was pretty much expected and my parents were more annoyed when there was blood on the carpet than cut & scrapes.

It seems to have been the way of thing up until the last 20 years when kids began to be wrapped in cotton wool more.

Personally I would prefer to find a balance of removing the very dangerous situations but allowing them the experience of making their own mistake, hurting themselves playing and understanding the consequences of stupid behaviour to develop their life skills.
