Many tears this morning

Does any one know of any printers which you are using/used in the past which are good? We currently have a Canon MG6851 but it is not working properly anymore, we've had it years. I have looked at more but there are so many, I can't choose. We need a cheap but reliable one because we still need to pay for our new kitchen.

We use it just for printing documents with some images. We are in desperate need and everyone we know doesn't have one. This morning has been full of tears because my daughter needs the printer to print out cards and things for the board game she is making currently. It is all she does, it's a special interest, and without one she can't do any more.

She is very black and white and has said "Without the printer, I can't do my board game, which means I'll be bored and have nothing to do, so I might as well just give up on life". That is exactly what she said, she does say things like that but we know she needs a printer quickly and I've told her that in the meantime, she should continue to create pieces for the board game so that when we have a printer, they are ready to be printed.

So any recommendations for printers will be greatly appreciated in this current moment of time. Thank you x

  • I also recommend an Epson printer, but - depending on how much you use it - I suggest avoiding those that use cartridges, as the costs really do add up over the long run (so much so that the price of the printer can soon fade into insignificance).

For the last several years, I've had an Epson ink tank printer - where ink comes in bottles, and the printer has refillable tanks - and have been very happy with it. There's more information here about how these differ, although I'd suggest buying elsewhere for lower prices:

Having also just checked Which?, four out of the top ten best buys are Epson tank printers, including the top two.
