Hello,
I am hoping someone can help. We are desperate. My daughter is about to start an assessment for autism. She is 9 and recently been having serious and often violent meltdowns. These are happening about once a day at the moment and can go on for hours. A paediatrician suggested we she could be autistic, and whilst she might not have been showing obviously autistic tendences previously, ,she could have been masking. He suggested that now going into puberty could have elevate things for her and she's having a burnout.
It has been going on for 2 months now. We have taken her to A&E twice but they don't really do anything. The school can't really help. GP says they need to be guided by the school.
I understand that we have to get the assessment completed but can anyone give us some advice in the interim ? We are worried she is going to cause herself some harm during these episodes. We are trying lots of different calming methods but nothing seems to work.
Any help would be appreciated, we are desperate.
thanks
