Seriously Need Help

We just discovered our child has been self harming.  His arm is covered in marks. We took him to the hospital last night to be looked at. They said they would not admit him and self harming was normal for people suffering depression. I don't know what to do. He says he has to scratch and cut himself to cope with the loss of his internet friends. He is also thin from a poor diet, he refuses to eat at times. This is such a nightmare.  There's no help. I'm sick to my stomach that there is no fix.

  • Yes I agree, CAMHS can be a great help. Don't allow them to say that ASD is no longer part of their remit. We were dropped by CAMHS where we had been seeing a psychologist on a regular basis last year as we were told that their remit to care for autistic children had been removed.. I insisted that only through CAMHS could we seek help for our grandson's high anxiety problems and that, by refusing him the care that a neuro typical child might receive for anxiety, they were discriminating against our child. We now see a marvellous psychiatrist at our local branch. I would encourage you seek their assistance. Hope all goes well for you.
