Employment advice please!!!

This is my first thread.

I am signed off work for mental health issues at the moment.

I currently work full time in an ASD class in a special needs school which is challenging to say the least! I also have a son at home who is 10 years old with Autism.

I am very much struggling as I have no respite what so ever and my son doesn’t sleep very well so it’s full on.

I don’t know how to cope, I am completely overwhelmed… It is constant and loud and very overwhelming all the time.

I also have another child and my own mental health issues as well as waiting for an ADHD diagnoses myself.

I don’t know if my mind frame is broken, I went into this job thinking it would help at home and increase my understanding however I have lost all my patience at home and at work and I’m just a shell.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

  • Although I can understand your rationale for choosing to do the job you do, it strikes me as being akin to a Busman's holiday, and perhaps not the best job for you.

You're a mum to two children (one of whom is autistic), and you are doing a demanding and challenging full-time job, whilst also contending with your own mental health issues and potentially having a diagnosis of ADHD. It's a lot to have to juggle.

Having you considered a job that might provide you with a form of escapism and be less challenging?
