denied education

Hi,

new to this site,

I'm a proud father of two beauitful boys with ASD age 4&5

both on completely opposite ends of the spektrum, for the past 12 months we have been having problems, with the youngest boys education, he has behavioral and sensory

problems, particularly with biting and head butting, the nursery staff where made well aware of this, but the said they could deal with it, but he was only allowed to do 10 hours per week, 2hrs per day, just before sept 2013 he bit his teacher, after she gave him a dry cracker and then tried to take it from him to butter it,

because of this, the school made us have CAF meetings, it was first agreed that it would be in his best interest to be held back in nursery, and we agreed to this if his hours would be increased, on the first day back in sept I asked about this and was told he would be on 2 hours for a few weeks, where now in feb and he's still only allowed to do 2hrs, he's excluded from most activities.

at the last meeting a few weeks ago, the head teacher was made aware that he has made significant improvments during this time, but despite the good comments from professionals, the head teacher said and I quote " I don't think your son is ever going to learn" the officials jumped on him and said you can't say that, he does not have learning dificaulties he has sensory/behavioral problems which can be avoided,

the head said, "well I mean he cannot learn enough in 3 year to catch up to the other children, and would spend most of his time in the coridor"

he has no intensions of including him in a class and is still refusing to increase his nursery hours, I feel he is being denied even a basic education

while in the same breath explained how wll his older brother is doing with the extra help he gets,

I'm very angry with his comments, I feel my youngest son is no longer welcome, and I feel that our 2 boys come as a pair and should be in the same school together,

they both have a statement of education, but I'm getting snubbed by other schools,

the nearest school won't even return my calls, or let me speak to their senco,

I've tried parent partnership but they don't seem to want to help,

I feel so alone and need some advise on where to turn for help,

thank you for reading

Parents
  • just an update, I've been trying to call the nearest school for weeks without success, and one phone from a health visitor has got the ball rolling, called parent partnership, despite their reluctance, they have agreed to come along to an appointment with the school,

but what I find frustrating, is every one I ask including parent partnership, cannot recommend any good schools, they are simply not allowed to tell us,

so it's up to us to look for a good school, without any knowledge of how to actually find one, and time is short, our youngest son, desperatly needs educating sooner rather than later, he will learn nothing while being held back in nursery
