hello!
Our son (who is 'high functioning' and has good vocabulary, but challenging social communication etc) has now had 12 SLT sessions, we're not convinced how much they're helping him. he appears to have majority of the same challenges with behaviour/ defiance/ communication shut down etc as when started, and the SLT has said it will be a long path ahead.
This makes us question, should we step away for say 12 months while his young brain can 'catch up' through normal life, then maybe he'll be more ready/ able to learn etc when he's a bit older and more developed. The sessions are paid privately (not NHS), and as well as OT sessions, are adding a big finance strain. But we want to help as much as we can.
any guidance is 5 years old is a bit young to be receptive to SLT, when have PDA/ defiance issues? thanks
