My son (24). Has been recently seen by mental health services.
- He seemed to us to be a normal happy lovely boy. When he turned 18 and got his first job things began to deteriorate. He spent all his wages within days on betting sites and has never since then learned to budget.
- He jumps head first into relationships with an all or nothing attitude...and has now had a baby to a girl he slept with on first date ..that relationship was a disaster from start to finish and still is.
- He turned to drugs spending money, is in a load of debt, has stolen from us to (I assume ) fund his addictions. He has had numerous jobs which he doesn't stick with. He just leaves without notice orust doesn't turn up. He lies continually about the tiniest thing to the point where we believe absolutely nothing he says. He just doesn't seem to have any insight or care into how his actions affecus and his brother. We have supported him financially for years, paying off debts and lending him money which he never pays back. I think he is a narcissist but at Christmas he decided that he had AD...just before Christmas I asked him to leave so he is now in temporary housing. We just could not handle the stealing and lying and denial. His brother has been really negatively affected by all ts. Anyway he agreed to speak to mental health nurse who has said he doesn't have ADHD but likely on autistic spectrum. Now I'm concerned he will use that as a get out for all the really devious bad havior. I'm actually just wondering how you separate the autistic traits from personality...also he lies about almost everything and can change a story in a second..he is never responsible for anything and nothing is ever his fault. He is always the victim. So I'm sure his conversation with the mental health nurse has not been the whole truth. Im just at a total loss now
